Unfortunate Endings: Transformer Characters’ Short-Lived Appearances

Last Updated on June 25, 2024 by xmiaonline.com

Do you know which characters in the Transformers movie series died as soon as they appeared? Some characters had spectacular entrances, only to meet their end just as quickly.

01. Sideways

The Transformers character Sideways, who appeared as a sleek sports car, definitely had an impressive introduction.

Sideways was primarily responsible for gathering intelligence for Megatron. He was skilled in deception and lying, but had very low combat strength. When humans discovered Sideways, Arcee and the twins pursued and fired at him, but their small size rendered them ineffective. Sideways sped away with his engine roaring.

However, he encountered Sideswipe, who performed an acrobatic flip and used his arm blades to slice Sideways in half. This Decepticon was taken down almost instantly after his cool entrance.

The Sideways toy is popular among Transformers toy collectors, especially those who appreciate Transformers action figures and models.

02. Grindor

Many people thought Grindor was the Transformers 1 character Blackout! Perhaps due to similar designs or the production team reusing models, but his name was Grindor. Grindor was much larger than Blackout.

Grindor, Starscream, and Megatron ambushed Optimus Prime in the forest, leading to the classic forest battle in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Despite Grindor’s size, Optimus Prime fearlessly used his flaming hooks to rip Grindor’s face apart.

Thus, this massive Transformers character met his end quickly, contributing to Optimus Prime’s victory.

The Optimus Prime toy, particularly the Masterpiece Optimus Prime, is a favorite among fans.

03. Scrapmetal

The name itself suggests that this Decepticon was doomed from the start. Although he may not be memorable, there is a classic scene in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

A group of Decepticons dove into the ocean to revive Megatron. Scalpel said, “We need parts, rip apart the little one.” Consequently, Scrapmetal was disassembled by his comrades to revive Megatron. I can only sigh…

The Megatron toy, especially the Generation 1 Megatron, is a sought-after item in Transformers toy collections.

04. Cliffjumper

In both the Transformers animated series and movies, Cliffjumper has always faced an unfortunate fate. He appears only to meet his end shortly after.

In the movie Bumblebee, he was captured by Shatter and Dropkick. Refusing to reveal Bumblebee’s location, he was sliced in half. His fate mirrors that of Sideways.

The Bumblebee toy, particularly those from the Transformers Studio Series, are popular among children and collectors.

05. Apelinq

Apelinq appeared in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and was my favorite character in the movie. He was the leader of the Maximals and the strongest warrior on their planet. He also invented the Transwarp Key.

When Scourge and Unicron arrived to steal the key, Apelinq decided to hand the key to Optimus Prime and face Scourge alone to buy time for the Maximals to escape. He was overconfident and quickly fell to Scourge, losing half his body.

Apelinq’s death was very unfortunate to me.

Due to the limited budget of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Apelinq was not given a transformation mode, only a simple battle form. If he had a transformation mode, he could have fought Scourge for much longer.
