Today, I’m bringing you a transformers toy review of YOLOPARK’s latest release: the AMK PRO Scorponok from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. YOLOPARK launched the AMK version of Scorponok last year, and I reviewed it at the time. The AMK Scorponok was, in my opinion, the most well-rounded figure in the AMK Rise of the Beasts line, and I was truly impressed. After more than a year, YOLOPARK has upgraded Scorponok to the higher-tier AMK PRO version. Let’s dive into the review to see how this toy stacks up.
Packaging: Visual Impact with Cinematic Flair
The packaging for YOLOPARK AMK PRO’s live-action movie characters is incredibly striking. The outer sleeve features a massive, detailed image of Scorponok with battle-fire effects. The top-left corner displays the YOLOPARK logo and AMK PRO insignia, while the character name “Scorponok” is noted below.
The back of the sleeve showcases the toy’s skeleton, armor, and assembled effect, along with basic production information. Under the sleeve, the inner box features a line-art style illustration of Scorponok, with his English name printed below. The box’s reverse side sports a large Terrorcon emblem—YOLOPARK’s packaging design truly resembles a premium action figure collectible.
Contents: Precision Parts and User-Friendly Design
The set includes four sprues of parts, an instruction manual, four batteries, and a warranty card. All parts are labeled for left/right placement, minimizing assembly errors. The overall build feel is slightly tight, with occasional parts requiring minor sanding for a smooth fit.
The Figure: Premium Upgrades and Cinematic Detail
The assembled figure includes Scorponok’s main body, replacement hand cannons, interchangeable face plates, a left-hand replacement, a display base, and a serpentine stand. Compared to the AMK Scorponok, the AMK PRO version introduces an alloy internal skeleton, offering a more satisfying weight and tactile feel than the AMK’s plastic frame. It also features drastically increased part separation, enhancing overall detail, and extensive weathered paint applications—reddish rust effects cover the entire body.
- Face & Lighting: The faceplate is made of alloy, adorned with asymmetrical battle scars. The eye-lighting mechanism, similar to previous models, uses a magnetic switch with three modes: constant on, blinking, and breathing. Swapping out parts reveals Scorponok’s ferocious face without the mask. The lighting here makes the face even more menacing than the AMK version.
- Chest & Armor: The chest grille’s layered design is enhanced, with car headlight and chain paint details. Dark red rust effects accent the armor’s edges and grooves, mimicking real-world metal corrosion.
- Arm Details: Scorponok’s arms display crucial faction symbols from defeated enemies. The shoulder armor features high-quality prints of Predacon, Autobot, and Decepticon emblems, with intricate designs even on the inner arms. The arm blades sport realistic high-temperature burn paint, staying true to the movie. The left arm, more compact than the right, includes a Maximal symbol on the forearm (distinct from Airazor’s shoulder emblem in the film—who knows which unfortunate character it belongs to.
- Claws & Legs: The iconic claws are silver with rusted joints, and the hollow interior reveals pipe-like details (a nod to Hasbro’s classic design technique). The legs boast muscular contours and truck wheel structures at the hips. Added part separation enhances layering on the thighs and calves, with hydraulic rods at the knees. The movie scene where Noah stabs Scorponok is recreated with a detachable calf panel, perfect for pairing with a Core Class Noah figure. The thigh and foot armor are alloy, adding heft to the figure.
- Back Design: Free from transformation constraints, the back features accurate exhaust pipes and a silver spinal column—almost a complete redesign from the AMK version.
Articulation: Fluid Motion for Dynamic Poses
Scorponok’s articulation matches the AMK PRO series’ high standard:
- Head: 2-joint neck for rotation, tilt, and mouth opening.
- Arms: Shoulder rotation, 90°+ horizontal lift, elbow 180° bend, wrist rotation. Right hand: 2-joint thumb, 3-joint fingers. Left claw: base rotation and 2-joint digits for cannon poses.
- Torso: Waist rotation, chest tilt.
- Legs: 90°+ front/back kick, 90° side lift, knee bend with hydraulic rod (linkage), ankle rotation and pivot for grounding.
Accessories & Improvements
- Upgraded Extras: The set includes a standard left hand a fan-requested addition from the AMK version and a hand cannon with lighting magnetic control, same modes as the eyes.
- Practical Adjustments: Unlike the AMK PRO Mirage, batteries are individually packaged to prevent contact issues. The stand, while more stable, requires removing a body part for installation—functional but slightly tedious.
Conclusion: A Stellar Evolution
The AMK PRO Scorponok isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a near-complete redesign with increased part separation, exquisite paintwork, and lighting effects. It flawlessly recreates the movie aesthetic, from metallic finishes to battle-worn details. With versatile accessories and dynamic articulation, it’s perfect for displaying iconic poses. After the impressive AMK Scorponok, the PRO version exceeds expectations, solidifying its place as a must-have for collectors. Highly recommended.
